Noice!

As you well know, Cass Lake can be deceptively difficult.

And ... yikes! ... raccoons!

Zebra mussels, eh? I know a little bit about those buggers:

I wonder if Cass Lake was named after Senator Lewis Cass from nearby MI. The good Senator was once described by a contemporary as "a man of stunning physical unattractiveness." I yearn for the good old days, when people knew how to disrespect people properly. I'm loving this, J-C!!

It was indeed! Well spotted! He journeyed there in the early 1800s and deemed Cass Lake the headwaters of the Mississippi. You should check out my post from day 1, i think you'd appreciate it!

As it happens our daughter-in-law Jackie's labor will be induced on Sunday the 23rd and she will have the baby Monday or Tuesday. We are taking care of our granddaughter while her mom is in the hospital so I need to be home and wont be able to paddle with you on the river north of Big Sandy. Disappointed, but looking forward to meeting our grandson. Wishing you happy paddling and fine weather Jean-Canot.

Thanks! I scouted out the access points between the dam and Palisade and plan to kayak that stretch of the river later this fall. You inspired me!
